The Amazing Octopus Interacting with it's Toys
Share
Well who needs you tube when you have an octopus.
How amazing is the octopus. We put some plastic toys in his tank and boy did he have fun. We will call it a he for argument sake.
Did you know?
- The octopus not only has 8 legs that can grow back if they happen to lose one (this would be useful), they also have 3 hearts, nine brains and blue blood, yes they could be royal :)
- The nervous system includes a central brain and a large ganglion to each arm which controls movement.
- The octopus has the ability to solve puzzles, useful for brain teasers, apparently they learn through observation.
- I wonder if we gave him a Rubics Cube who would solve it first if we both watched 'how to' on you tube?
- Ollie the octopus can also undo the lid of the jar. Through their inquisitive nature they unscrew the lid of the jar and take out what ever is inside, usually food.
They often misbehave if we do not offer them alternating ideas of entertainment. For example they climb over the back of the tank, they remove the silicone from the back drop and remove the pipe that is attached to the pump and when we go in in the morning to say hi, we are greeted with a lovely water feature, from the pump, pumping water over the back of the tank. I am certain he is laughing at us when he sees our reaction.
How lucky are we to be able to showcase and enjoy nature.
